The world is within your reach as a student at Dominican University. #StarsAbroad #GoGlobal

Our study abroad program was established early in the university's history as one of the first such programs in the U.S. Since then, we have expanded our offerings to include short-term and semester-long opportunities all over the world.

Students who choose to study abroad have the opportunity to join peers and faculty members from Dominican and other institutions in more than 18 study abroad locations worldwide. Visit our program pages for full information about each of these.

All of our programs have been carefully reviewed, and our affiliates have proven experience administering quality programs for U.S. students. Our short-term programs are led by a full-time Dominican faculty member with subject-area expertise and extensive experience in the destination country.

How Affordable is Study Abroad?

Our programs don't just add value to your education and memories for life—they're also surprisingly affordable.

Dominican is committed to helping students achieve a global perspective and making study abroad accessible. All of our semester abroad programs cost less than a semester studying and living on campus at Dominican. Some program costs also include housing, meals, and your flight.

We also keep our short-term programs extremely affordable by offering all inclusive programs during winter, spring, and the summer breaks for only the cost of administering the program (tickets, housing, insurance, tours, etc). Students are not charged tuition or fees, and are able to earn 1-6 credits with opportunities to meet area and major requirements.

In addition, all federal and state financial aid for which you are eligible can be applied to your study abroad experience. The Residence Life Grant does not apply to a semester abroad, because students will not be living on Dominican's campus. If the cost of your semester abroad is less than Dominican tuition, any other institutional aid you have been approved for will be prorated, for that semester.

Each study abroad program participant may also be eligible for the Excellence in Experiential Learning Award (ExcEL) offered by Dominican University. Read our Study Abroad FAQ page for advice on how to plan academically and financially to study abroad.
