Laurie Zack, Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing, came to Dominican University as a full time faculty member in the fall of 2019. Laurie Zack has two decades of experience in higher education settings and over twenty-five years of health care experience working with patients of all ages. She has experience in pediatric nursing, psychiatric mental health nursing, primary care, family practice, and community and public health nursing. In her years of experience working in higher education, she has served in a variety of administrative positions including the Director of Health Services, the Associate Director of Health and Counseling Services, Professional Mental Health and Career counselor, Learning Specialist in Nursing, Program Chair of the BSN for RN Nursing Program, Director of Institutional Research, and the Accreditation Liaison Officer. Within these roles, she has had a wide variety of leadership experiences including supervising the Office of the Registrar; advising and training of student groups; establishing new student services opportunities; and developing student remediation and success strategies. She has had opportunities to develop, coordinate, and implement University wide wellness and student success programming; to develop the curriculum and courses for a new nursing program; and to serve as Chair of several University level committees such as the Institutional Review Board, the Institutional Effectiveness Committee, and the Curriculum Committee.

Laurie Zack uses all of these experiences to augment her approach to teaching and learning within the classroom and within clinical environments. She invests in the personal and professional growth of her students. She chose Dominican University’s Elizabeth T. MacNeil School of Nursing because of the evidenced dedication to quality nursing education, the student centered approach to foster the growth of future nurses, and the creative and innovative methods of teaching and learning.
