The Village of River Forest has approved a mutually beneficial partnership with Dominican University to assist the village in creating a community committed to racial and social justice. The partnership will build on the work of the university's Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation initiative.

Dominican students of color attended a River Forest village board meeting to share incidents of discrimination that they experienced in the community.

The approved partnership is the result of several meetings between village trustees and the university.

"This is truly a historic moment for River Forest," said River Forest Village President Cathy Adduci. "I didn't think we would get here this quick."
