The 2022 Graduate Student Commencement will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, at the Rosemont Theatre, 5400 N River Road, Rosemont, Illinois.

Participants: You must wear regalia (gown, cap, hood, tassel) to participate in Commencement. The April 1 deadline to order regalia has passed. Beginning Monday, April 11, the Stepan Bookstore will have a limited supply of regalia for students who missed the deadline.

Health and safety expectations

As we prepare to celebrate commencement this weekend, it is important to remind all participants and attendees that Dominican University remains committed to the health and safety of everyone.

All participants and attendees are expected to follow the latest COVID-19 guidelines from the CDC. The university kindly requests that anyone who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 please refrain from attending this weekend’s commencement events. Additionally, individuals who have recently tested positive or have been exposed to COVID-19 should follow the CDC’s guidelines for quarantine and isolation.

While masks are not required at Dominican, the university recommends face coverings be worn in indoor spaces.


Each Graduate student participating in Commencement will receive six (6) guest tickets to the ceremony on May 8 at 4:30 p.m.. All guests, including babies and children, will need a ticket for entry. Graduates do not need a ticket. 

Commencement ticket pick up will be held on Saturday, April 9, 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.; Monday, April 11, and Tuesday, April 12, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., by the Stepan Bookstore. Pre-ordered regalia may also be picked up at this time. 

Starting Wednesday, April 13, tickets may be picked up at the DUPAC Box Office located in the Fine Arts Building. The box office is open Tuesday – Friday, Noon – 6 p.m. Saturday hours are available April 23 and 30. Contact the box office at or 708-488-5000. 

Students needing extra tickets are encouraged to speak with other participants to locate unused tickets. Any remaining tickets will be distributed via a lottery system. Enter your name in the lottery here by 11:59pm on Tuesday, April 26 to be in the drawing on April 27th.



Seating is general admission and doors open one hour before the ceremony start time. Guests in need of special services (wheelchair seating, sign language interpretation etc) can be accommodated. There is a survey (quiz) in the Commencement course on Canvas through which students should provide information to help us plan for special services.

Baby strollers are not allowed in the theater.



Each Graduate student participating in Commencement will also receive one (1) parking pass for the Rosemont Theatre parking lot. Only parking pass holders will be able to park in this lot. This parking pass may be given to a guest. Please carefully consider who should use this guaranteed, free parking spot at the venue. Carpooling is recommended. 

Ample paid parking is available in garages around the Rosemont area. A map of the area is located on the Rosemont Theatre’s website. Please note the parking fee information on Rosemont’s web page is for concerts and not valid for Dominican’s private event. Allow extra time for walking to the Theatre.
