Graduate Academic Success, a part of the Academic Success and Case Management teams, is here to support Dominican University graduate students.

The Academic Success Graduate Coordinator connects you with offices and services across campus to ensure academic success and enhance your student life experience. In collaboration with academic advisors and faculty, the Academic Success Graduate Coordinator can facilitate a plan for success based on your needs through academic coaching. If you are seeking more individualized support with adjusting to the expectations of your graduate program, you can receive cross departmental and college support.

We understand that balancing academic demands with work and personal responsibilities as you transition into graduate school can be challenging. Here at Dominican, we will assist you in the process of developing academic and professional skills and offer holistic support for your well-being from the time you are admitted until you have earned your degree. Explore the resources below to learn more about strategies and tools for graduate student success, student support services, and ways to request assistance.

Check out all these resources you have access to at DU.

Experts and Executives in Residence

The Experts and Executives in Residence (Career Mentors) are industry leaders who provide career mentorship and support to students. These industry leaders are available virtually, as well as in person, to help support graduate students with:

  • Assistance with resume building, LinkedIn, cover letter, and applicable job search materials
  • Salary negotiation
  • Job and internship search, interview skills, and strategies
  • Planning a career path beyond the initial position accepted directly after graduation
  • Strategies for maintaining momentum once a career path has been chosen
  • Navigating challenging professional or personal issues at work

You can schedule an appointment with an Expert in Residence through Handshake. Once you are in the system, click on the Career Center tab, then Appointments. You may then choose the appropriate industry and your field of study.

Handshake

Handshake is a tool that serves as resource for you to be able to schedule career development appointments, find a job or an internship, locate career development and recruiting events, and is similar to LinkedIn in that employers can recruit you.
