Majors

In order to graduate with an undergraduate degree, all students must declare a major. These major programs can be as small as 38 credits and as large as 66 credits.

We hope you will explore Dominican's major options and then bring your thoughts and questions into your SOAR academic advising meeting.

Check out Dominican's majors here.

Minors

Unlike a major, students are not required to declare a minor. However, students commonly select another area of academic interest in order to reach the undergraduate degree requirement of 124 credits.

Check out Dominican's minors here.

DU Bulletin

The DU Bulletin is the official source of information regarding degree requirements, rules and regulations, programs of study, courses, and opportunities within and outside of individual departments and programs.

You will follow the requirements included in the Bulletin published in the year you first enrolled as a degree-seeking student (your academic year of entry) at Dominican University.

Students are encourage to review majors and minors options in greater detail via the DU Bulletin. Students can review majors and minors from Rosary College of Arts and Sciences, Brennan School of Business, Borra College of Health Sciences and College of Applied Social Science.

Dominican CORE Curriculum

All students will complete our CORE curriculum along with their major courses. It is similar to what students will call general education requirements, but Dominican’s Core contains distinctive elements, especially within Dominican Distinction, our commitment to social justice, sustainability and theology. For students starting in the academic year of 2024–2025, there is a new core.

Students who participate in the Honors Program will have specific courses to meet the CORE curriculum. Learn more.

Incoming transfer students who have completed their Associate of Arts from a participating Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) college will have a limited number of CORE related requirements at DU. Transfer students who are from out of state or have yet completed their Associate of Arts will have their transcripts articulated by Stars Connect to learn what remaining course work they will need to complete.
