All students benefit from a study abroad semester or year, especially foreign language majors. Language students at Dominican can sharpen their skills and develop their cross-cultural awareness by spending a semester or year in Europe, Africa or South America.

Dominican’s study abroad programs are designed to foster academic and cultural growth. The university offers foreign language–based programs in French and Italian.

Florence, Italy (AIFS)

Students of all disciplines are invited to participate in a semester-long program through the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) in the Renaissance city of Florence. Ideal for students who are complementing their language study with fashion, art, art history, communications, graphic design, international business, business administration or marketing. Group excursions include include two overnight excursions to Rome (three days) and Venice (two days) and a day visit to Siena.

Milan, Italy

Students participating in this program live with Italian university students and/or young professionals in the fashion, financial and commercial capital of Italy. Students may enroll in a huge variety of courses, all of which are taught in Italian. Advanced language students may apply for internships.

Short-Stay Programs

Shorter programs in Europe, Africa and Asia offer a manageable alternative to semester-length options. These programs are very popular among students.
