What You’ll Learn

As a student in Dominican’s Master of Arts in Education in Educational Leadership program, you’ll be equipped with the essential skills, knowledge and ethics-focused foundation for success in an increasingly diverse educational landscape. 

Alongside expert faculty, you’ll analyze systems of inequality and identify how societal barriers impact student outcomes and opportunities. You’ll study and respond to current challenges in teaching, curriculum, and assessment within learning environments, implementing strategies to support students’ diverse needs. And, you’ll understand how to make data-driven decisions for organizational improvements that promote inclusive and equitable school settings. Our students graduate prepared for leadership roles in schools, community organizations and higher education, including assistant principals, instructional supervisors, curriculum directors, and leaders in equity, assessment and data use.

Teaching is such a rapidly evolving discipline, an advanced degree will prepare you to transition into leadership roles and seek other opportunities for promotion with more responsibility and higher earnings. In some districts, just having a master’s automatically qualifies you for a salary increase.

The process for financing a degree can seem daunting, but you do have options. In addition to loans, the School of Education offers a limited number of scholarships and grants. You may apply for them after you are accepted and have registered for your first course. Federal Stafford loans are also available through the Office of Financial Aid. A 20% tuition discount is also available to Dominican University alumnae/i. We can help you navigate the process and find options that work for you.
