Masses and Liturgical Ministries

Share in the celebration of the Eucharist on Sundays during the academic year at our 8 p.m. student-led Mass right on campus in Rosary Chapel. For a more contemplative liturgical experience, Dominican offers a Candlelight Mass on Thursdays at 8 p.m. All faith backgrounds are welcome to attend.

At the beginning of each academic year, the Mass of the Holy Spirit is held for the community to pray for guidance and wisdom and give thanks for the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Special Masses honoring other Catholic traditions are also held throughout the year, as are communal Rosary services.

Liturgy at Dominican University is driven and facilitated by our students. Become more involved in our community’s prayer life through the ministry of hospitality, or by serving as a lector, cantor or choir member. To learn more about how to contribute, contact Michele vonEbers, university minister for liturgy.

Catholic Sacraments

Students, staff and faculty who are interested in deepening their Catholic identity through the sacrament of confirmation are invited to reach out to aUniversity Ministry staff member. Together, we can arrange a process that will suit your specific needs as you prepare to receive this sacrament while attending Dominican University.

Those who have been baptized and would now like to receive the sacraments of First Eucharist and confirmation in order to formally join the Catholic Church, the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is available. Through this process of initiation, you will journey with others as you explore, learn about, and are formed in the faith, the community and the mission of the Catholic Church. Contact a University Ministry staff member to learn more.

Students interested in receiving the sacrament of reconciliation should contact Michele vonEbers to set up a time or get connected to a local parish.
