Building Community Across Difference

Our interfaith interns actively engage in outreach to shape the environment of the University Ministry Center and its prayer spaces. They create brave spaces where people of different faith, non-faith and cultural backgrounds can listen to one another, build relationships and participate in activities that promote the common good.

Programs have included the interfaith potluck dinner, tours to houses of worship, service trips, dialogues, interfaith prayer services and special community events rooted in the faith traditions of our students. Dominican also works closely with Interfaith America to train student leaders to engage with religious diversity on our campus and beyond. Interfaith America promotes the idea that when students are “equipped with the vision, knowledge and skills to positively engage difference, our religiously diverse democracy can and will flourish.”

Interfaith Prayer and Meditation Room

The Interfaith Prayer and Meditation Room at Dominican University is available to all students, staff and faculty for personal prayer, meditation and reflection. The space also includes wudu stations for the Islamic practice of ablution before prayer.

The Interfaith Prayer and Meditation Room is located on the second floor of Mazzuchelli Hall, adjacent to the Noonan Reading Room and Rosary Chapel.
