Transforming the World with Purpose
Following Dominican University’s tradition of refusing to stand on the sidelines in the face of injustice, University Ministry provides students with opportunities to act and serve where needs are great. Through thoughtful and reflective engagement, students gain greater clarity about their part in transforming the world—and in God’s invitation to their own transformation.
Partnerships that encourage work in faith justice include the following:
- Come to the Table, a service opportunity in collaboration with the Quinn Community Center in neighboring Maywood. Students serve dinner and build relationships with the families who utilize the community center. They eat with those they meet while learning about food justice and community empowerment.
- Catholic Relief Services. Dominican University Ministry partners with CRS to connect with a global community and learn about poverty and injustice. Students develop leadership skills, educate others and connect faith to action, transforming communities.
The University Ministry Center brings together students of all backgrounds to give expression to an intentionally inclusive, authentically diverse and genuinely welcoming university community. Taking time with and for others allows relationships to deepen, strengthens the interaction and relationships of students, faculty and staff, and provides outreach to all parts of the university.
