Once you’re registered for classes, there are a few more important next steps to take.

Purchase your Textbooks

Textbooks can be purchased or rented at the Stepan Bookstore on the first floor of Power Hall.

  • Note: please contact your course instructor to see what, if any, textbooks are required for your course.
  • Make sure to have your course number and section available when purchasing textbooks.
  • You can contact the bookstore at dom@bkstr.com or (708) 524-6893. More information is also available on the Stepan Bookstore’s website.

Fill out your Health History and Certificate of Immunity Forms

All students are required to comply with the University policy for Immunizations. Prior to the first day of class all students must log in to the Wellness Center Online and upload documentation of the required immunizations. The Wellness Center portal is synced with the Illinois registry so some of your immunizations may already be uploaded. If it reads “Compliant Verified” you are compliant and nothing more needs to be done. Required Immunizations include MMR, TDAP, and Meningitis (if under 22 years of age). You will also need to complete the required TB screening form. Failure to comply with the immunization policy may result in a fine.

You can access the Wellness Center Online (link opens in new window). You will use your DU credentials to log in.

Questions can be directed to the Wellness Center at (708) 524-6229 or wellness@dom.edu

Parking Permits

Beginning fall 2023, Dominican University is partnering with Rydin Decal for parking permit applications, payment, permit distribution, parking enforcement, multi-plate data collection and citation appeals.

Access the portal

Step One: Create an account on the Rydin dashboard. Follow the link above and click on “Register Account.” Please use your Dominican email address to create your account. Your ID number is your Dominican Star Card ID number, without leading zeros.

Step Two: You will then be asked to verify your email. You will receive a link from no-reply@rydin.com. Follow that link to verify your email.

Step Three: Register your vehicles and contact information. All fields in red are required.

Step Four: Click on “Buy Permits” on the top banner and follow the prompts. Note: permit options are based on your current status and affiliation (Faculty/Staff, Commuter, and Resident). This status has been predetermined and only permits that apply to your specific category will be available for purchase. If you believe this to be an error, please contact parking@dom.edu.

  • Commuter and Faculty/Staff permits will be delivered to the home address provided during the application.
  • Resident permits will be available for pick-up at Campus Safety dispatch next week.

Step Five: Print your temporary permit. You will receive a confirmation email from Rydin about your purchase, and you will also get an email with a link to a temporary parking permit. This permit should be displayed on the left hand (driver's) side of your dashboard until you receive your hang tag.

Please email parking@dom.edu with any questions.

Star Cards (Student ID Cards)

  • Complete a Star Card application in order to obtain your Student ID card. There is no charge for the ID card.
    • Complete the Star Card Application online. Then, visit Information Technology in Lewis Hall #047. During the visit, you’ll have a picture taken and will also need another form of ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, to verify your identity.
  • If you need assistance with the Star Card application, please email supportcenter@dom.edu.

Complete Required Title IX Sexual Assault Training

Dominican University requires that all new students complete online training on sexual assault prevention. This interactive online tool will help Dominican students further their understanding of critical topics like sexual assault and bystander intervention that will benefit both the campus environment and the community. Invitations will be sent to your Dominican email account via an automated message from Get Inclusive with the subject line "Online Course Assigned to you by Dominican University" around the start of the semester. Please keep an eye out.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with Dr. Mayra Chacón. For more information about diversity, equity, and inclusion, read One Process: For a More Just and Humane Campus.
