Dominican’s location in the near west suburbs of Chicago offers great advantages to fashion students. River Forest is just 10 miles from downtown Chicago, home to well-known fabric stores, the Magnificent Mile, renowned department stores, exquisite boutiques, world-class museums and a thriving fashion design community.

Design and merchandising students can make the city and surroundings their laboratories. Field trips and visiting guest speakers from leading fashion companies and museums bring students’ coursework to life.

Fashion students are required to do at least one internship for credit to gain work experience before graduation. Fortunately, organizations throughout Chicagoland are a ready source of internships for Dominican fashion students.

" Chicago is a fashion-forward city that offers many opportunities to students interested in the field of merchandising and design. The city offers a wide range of events, including opportunities with large industry professionals as well as with small local businesses throughout the Chicagoland area."
