What is National College Decision Day?

Celebrated on May 1, National College Decision Day is when college applicants across the country make their choice on which school they’ll attend in the fall and share with their family and friends.

Dr. Leticia Perez

Biology graduate

“I chose Dominican because when I attended an open house, everyone really made me feel welcome and at home. I liked the small size because I knew I was going to have more connections with my teachers and more one-on-one attention.”

Eddie Rivera

International Relations and Diplomacy student

“One of the reasons I chose to come to Dominican University is because it’s a Hispanic-Serving Institution, and also for the many opportunities that they provide for first-generation immigrants like me.”

Prayer Childress

Psychology graduate

"Dominican’s culture is very much like a big family. We have a love here for each other, whether it’s your first time meeting someone or you’ve known them all four years. That really makes it feel like you are part of a close-knit group.”

Lucas Eggers

Biology-Chemistry graduate

“I was drawn to the community and values here on my first visit to campus. My experience at Dominican has shaped my life and education in many ways. These experiences will be so important to me when I begin working in medicine. Dominican encourages students to seek out and pursue whatever passions we have.”

Ulises Flores

Economics and international relations student

“Because Dominican University has a significant first-gen student population, it became easy for me to navigate through the college student experience, knowing that there’s a community here that shares the same experiences and the same background.”

Hannah Gordon

Biology-Chemistry graduate

“I considered a number of universities, but Dominican was easily my top choice because of its strong program in the health sciences. I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship to the university. My goal now is to attend medical school.”

Gabrielle McCoy

Physical sciences graduate

“I’ve always felt that the Dominican community is so supportive. I felt it even from my first visit to campus. And I like to say that Dominican is a small school with a huge soul. As a student I am able to reach out to my professors and hear back from them quickly, and I don’t think students at every school can say that.
