Your academic advisor will help you navigate through the transfer credit process. Please contact your advisor with any questions about how your credits will transfer to your program.

Transfer Credit Evaluation
Dominican will accept up to 68 semester hours in transfer credit from a community college and up to 90 semester hours from four-year colleges and universities. The transfer credit evaluation process will begin once your application for admission is complete and we have received official transcripts from each college or university
you previously attended. It typically takes 2-4 weeks for us to receive transcripts from U.S. institutions.

American Council on Education (ACE)
ACE recommendations are guidelines to evaluate selected baccalaureate level coursework. Certificates earned through company training workshops and seminars, must be submitted and evaluated for credit approval, prior
to enrolling in your first course.

College-level Examination Program (CLEP)
CLEP exams offer students an opportunity to earn credit in a variety of subject areas. Refer to the CLEP Exam chart (pdf opens in a new window) to see if you scored high enough to receive credit. A maximum of 28 semester hours of CLEP credit may be accepted with no more than 12 semester hours in one subject area.

International Transcripts
Applicants who completed coursework at institutions outside the United States must submit an official credential evaluation from one of the following agencies to determine university credit:

Educational Perspectives
Evaluation Service, Inc.
Education Credential Evaluators
World Education Services

Military Transcripts
Dominican is committed to working with veterans and active-duty service members to accept any credits previously earned. Service members are eligible for 48 hours of General Education credit, as well as learning from military training, education, and occupational experiences through the DANTES' Military Training Evaluation Program (MTEP).

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)
An assessment of a student’s work, life and learning experience, could translate into academic credit. Learn more about earning credit for prior learning.

Proficiency Exams
Proficiency exams are available for English and Mathematics. Students can arrange to take proficiency exams with their advisor or with a local proctor by arrangement. There is no charge for proficiency exams.

Vocational Credit
Dominican will accept up to 18 hours of general elective credit. Additional vocational credit may be accepted if applicable to your area of study.

Upon Admission to an Academic Adult Undergraduate Program
You will receive a degree-completion plan within 7-10 business days upon assessment of your academic credentials. The degree-completion plan outlines the transfer credits that will apply toward the BPS degree and the remaining credits needed to graduate.

Please review the University Bulletin for information about transfer-credit policies.
