As a finance major in the Brennan School of Business, you’ll learn to help individuals, corporations and nonprofit organizations manage risks, allocate resources and plan strategically for long-term success.

Master the science and art of resource management

The finance major will prepare you to confidently inform the financial decisions of individuals, corporations and nonprofit organizations. In small classes, you’ll work side-by-side with an outstanding faculty that includes Fulbright scholars, successful authors and top-level corporate leaders. You’ll learn not only about investment and portfolio management but also about persuasion, leadership, entrepreneurship, business law and ethics, and the subtle art of communicating within organizations and across cultures. You’ll be ready for leadership in a growing profession that enables enterprises of all kinds to grow and make the world a better place.

More ways to learn, on campus and beyond

Extensive practical experience is built into Brennan’s finance curriculum. Our practicums and internships draw on Chicago’s incredible corporate resources. We make our connections your connections, so you can test drive your dream job in the real world. You’ll dive deep into the ethical and legal implications of financial practices. To gain a global perspective on finance, you can choose from among study abroad programs on four continents. You may even qualify for our first-rate Accelerated MBA Program—a pathway to a completed MBA in just one additional year of study.

The finance major is also offered in the evening for students who have completed an associate’s degree. The evening Bachelor of Business Administration program puts you on track to get your bachelor’s in business in two years without compromising Brennan’s signature relationship-centered and experiential learning models.

“My parents emigrated to this country 22 years ago and their dream was to raise a college graduate. Dominican made this dream a reality. Now I’m working as a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual. I was a scholarship student, and someday I hope to pass along the generosity I received to future students.”

In addition to finance, Dominican offers a variety of undergraduate business majors.
