Learning Goals and Outcomes

Students will:

Read literary texts with sensitivity to their formal, historical, and cultural contexts and with sensitivity to detail, ambiguity, and complexity.
Write with clarity and insight, awareness of critical theories and disciplinary methods, and sensitivity to the needs and expectations of audiences.
Promote justice by discerning diverse perspectives and recognizing relationships of power within specific literary works and institutions (e.g., canons, curricula, publications).
Prepare for profession by adapting skills in reading, writing, and analysis to various “real world” contexts.
