Stephen Kinzer Shares Insights

Stephen Kinzer, international reporter and this year’s Lund-Gill Chair, will present a lecture titled “ Rwanda: From Victim to New Star of Africa?” based on insights from his newest book, on Thursday, September 4 at 7:00 p.m. in Parmer Hall 108.

Kinzer will also discuss lessons learned since 9/11 during a lecture on Thursday, September 11 at 2:20 p.m. in the Martin Recital Hall.

Both lectures are free.


See Chicago’s Parks in a New Way!

Artists Bill Guy and Ulrike Muller take vastly different approaches to the idea of urban spaces in O’Connor Art Gallery’s new exhibit, “Public Spaces, Private Moments.” The exhibit opens with a lecture by Guy on Wednesday, September 10 at 3:00 p.m., followed by a reception from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the gallery on the fourth floor of Lewis Hall. Through October 18.


Seven Years Later

On the seventh anniversary of 9/11, Dominican University will present a Reader’s Theatre production of 102, a play focusing on a group of women trapped in a World Trade Center restroom 102 minutes before the tower collapses.

The free play will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Martin Recital Hall.

A Dark Window on Human Trafficking

Graduate School of Social Work students Tracy O’Dowd and Sergio Velarde spent last spring combating human trafficking in Ecuador. Their experiences, including the night that they participated in the police bust of a nightclub, were captured in a feature story in The Chronicle of Higher Education.
