Three Students Selected for Volunteer, Language Immersion Program in Italy
Three Dominican University students are among only 30 students selected nationwide to participate in VoluntarItaly, a program that will send them to Lombardy, Italy for volunteer experiences.
Students Jorge Zarco, Stephany Vazquez and Wilbur Webb will spend three weeks this summer helping to teach children at local parishes. The students will live with host families and immerse themselves in the Italian language, which they are studying at Dominican as Italian majors or minors.
This program is sponsored by the Dante Alighieri Society of Michigan. Students were selected to participate by submitting a written application and taking part in a Zoom interview, both conducted in Italian.
This type of study and service is just one example of the experiential learning opportunities available to— and encouraged of—Dominican University students.
