More than 300 students attended a career fair hosted Sept. 28 in Parmer Hall by the Office of Career Programs and Employer Relations.

Students were able to connect with 26 different employers across various industries, giving the students opportunities to network, learn about future careers and explore possible internships.

The career fair’s format allowed students to practice their professional speaking skills and grow their networks for future jobs. Graduating seniors discussed full-time positions, sophomores and juniors learned about internship opportunities with participating companies, and first-year students were introduced to the professional possibilities available to them during and after their time at Dominican.

Executives in residence also attended to encourage students and provide advice.

Sponsors included Big Shoulders Fund, Bosch, DHJJ, Discover, Guggenheim, IAA, Morningstar, Paylocity, and Wintrust.

First-year student Viviana Paz, who is majoring in entrepreneurship, was the winner of the Career Fair raffle, which included a DU backpack, padfolio, water bottle and umbrella.

During her conversations with employers, Viviana said she learned that now is the right time to begin exploring professional opportunities.

“[The employers] gave me application timelines, and I can start as soon as next semester,” she said. “They also had recommendations for certifications that I can obtain.”
