DU Trustee Receives Leadership Award
Dominican University Trustee Fr. Brendan Curran, OP was the recipient of the Prophetic Leadership Award from Arise Chicago.
The award was presented during the Faith-Labor-Action Breakfast on June 17.
Fr. Brendan serves on the International Dominican Commission for Justice and Peace and also serves in community organizing and interfaith partnerships at The Resurrection Project in Chicago.
He has fought for immigrant justice and policy change, calling for humane policies and civil liberties at the Broadview Detention Center during and after Operation Midway Blitz activities.
“May we leave here to both love our neighbors and also see the whole world as our neighborhood,” Fr. Brendan said in remarks after receiving his award.
Arise Chicago works in partnership with faith communities to uplift workers, with special attention paid to the treatment of immigrant workers. Fr. Brendan is a former Arise Chicago board member.
