New Faculty and Staff Resources
Username and Email Account
As a new employee, your Dominican University (DU) username and email account are created approximately 24 hours after completing the onboarding process with the Office of People and Culture. Information regarding these credentials and how to establish the required password will be sent to the personal email address you provided during the employment application process.
Faculty and staff receive an email account formatted as username@dom.edu (ex: jsmith@dom.edu). To log into any campus computer, enter your username (ex: jsmith) and email account password. Your username and password serve as a personal digital identification to access technology resources such as Canvas, Zoom, Office 365, EngageDU and more.
If you completed the onboarding process and have not received your DU credentials and email account, please submit a request here to have them sent to you. You will need your DU ID number when you submit a request, which can be obtained through the Office of People and Culture.
Connecting to the DU Network
All DU office computers are physically wired to the DU network. For all non-wired devices, faculty and staff utilize the DU Wireless connection. DU Wireless offers an encrypted connection with unrestricted Internet access speed. To join the secured DU Wireless, you will need to provide your Dominican username and password at first connection.
Dominican University ID (Star Card)
Your DU identification card is the Star Card. The Star Card is your personal identification card and gives you access to campus buildings, printing, DU Dollars and more. Once you have completed the onboarding process, a Star Card can be created for you. A personal ID such as a Driver’s License, State ID or Passport will be needed to create or replace a Star Card. Please visit the DU Information Technology Support Center during normal business hours to obtain a Star Card.
Office Computers
Dominican University provides a new device (choice of Windows or macOS) to all staff and full-time faculty at time of hire. These devices are replaced every five (5) years. Devices are deployed with a standard university image and software setup. Any additional technology needs must be requested through your supervisor
