R.J. McMahon is a seasoned executive with more than twenty-five years of leadership experience in nonprofit management, education, and operations. Known for guiding organizations through growth and transformation, he brings a strong blend of strategic planning, financial management, and culture-building expertise.
R.J. currently serves as CEO of Oak Leyden, where he has led a successful financial turnaround, strengthened organizational culture, and advanced a multi-year strategic plan to expand programs and diversify funding. His previous roles include Executive Director at St. Giles School and CEO of the Robert Crown Center for Health Education, where he revitalized culture, rebuilt board engagement, and established national partnerships to advance health education.
He has also held key leadership positions at Fenwick High School, Chicago International Charter School, and St. Martin de Porres High School, contributing to major operational improvements, development growth, and successful school expansions. Earlier in his career, he taught business courses at Dominican University and held management roles at McMaster-Carr.
R.J. holds an MBA from Loyola University Chicago and a BA in Economics from Boston College, and he remains active in community service and youth sports.
