Luz Eugenia Álvarez is from Durango, Mexico. Her studies in theology, psychology and spirituality have been carried out in Mexico, Spain and the United States. Her ministry has been in the field of vocational discernment, religious formation, spiritual retreats speaker, conferences, parish and diocesan
Hispanic ministry, religious education, theology teaching and theological reflection facilitation. She is currently Associate Director of the Instituto de Liderazgo Pastoral (Institute for Pastoral Leadership in Spanish) at the University of Santa Maria del Lago / Mundelein Seminary of the Archdiocese of Chicago, where she teaches and directs formation programs preparing Latin@ lay ministers for service in the Archdiocese of Chicago and other Dioceses. She served as Pastoral Care volunteer in St. Louis Hospital and every Friday at the Broadview Detention Center in Chicago, supporting families of loved ones who were being deported.
