John Snakenborg is an assistant professor of special education at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois. Prior to that he taught in the Chicago Public Schools for 8 years at both the elementary and secondary levels. At Dominican University he teaches coursework at the undergraduate and graduate levels on characteristics of students with disabilities, collaboration between general and special educators, methods of managing challenging behavior and classroom and behavior management, disability studies, and methods for students with moderate to severe disabilities. In addition, he instructs candidates in the special education alternative licensure program during the intensive summer pre-residency program as well as working with traditional pathway student teachers as a supervisor and seminar instructor.
