Community members, students, and faculty honor a milestone moment in Brennan’s history.

For over 40 years, the Brennan School of Business has been committed to preparing ethics-centered leaders to meet the demands of today’s global business environment. This spring, we celebrated two important milestones: our fortieth anniversary as a business school, and the induction of the first Rowe Distinguished Professor.

Celebrating 40 Years of Business Education

Dominican University—then known as Rosary College—introduced its MBA degree within the Graduate School of Business in fall 1977. It was one of the first MBAs offered by a liberal arts college in the state.

In the years that followed, we developed new programs, welcomed students from dozens of countries around the world, expanded our facilities, and forged new partnerships with both local businesses and international universities.

From the start, the business school taught ethics across the curriculum. This commitment to building ethics-centered leaders was showcased in 2002 when Doris Christopher, Founder and CEO of Pampered Chef, established an endowed chair in Business Ethics.

Nearly 30 years later, in 2006, Ed and Lois Brennan chose to lend their name to the School, branding the Brennan School of Business, raising our profile and reputation, and effectively starting us on a journey that led to securing accreditation among the top 5% of the world’s business schools recognized by AACSB in 2014.

Today, we educate hundreds of tomorrow’s business leaders with expanded undergraduate and graduate programs. Brennan aspires to be an innovative leader in experiential business education, and every day we make strides against that goal.

Brennan was formed nearly half a century ago because there was a need to educate students with a commitment to business ethics. Through our innovative, experiential business education, we have been building ethically and socially-minded leaders for decades. Ours is a community of individuals who understand that through a commitment to values and responsible leadership, we create an environment which allows students to reach their highest potential.

This spring, community members, students, and faculty gathered to honor this milestone moment in Brennan’s history at a special event.

Professor Al Rosenbloom Inducted as Rowe Distinguished Professor in Special Ceremony

This spring, Professor Al Rosenbloom was invested as the inaugural John and Jeanne Rowe Distinguished Professor.

Al is a professor of marketing and international business and a former Fulbright scholar. He has led Brennan students on international residency experiences including those to South Africa and China, and he leads Brennan’s involvement with the United Nations’ Principles of Responsible Management Education initiative.

John Rowe, Chairman Emeritus of Exelon Corporation, joined the ceremony to congratulate Professor Rosenbloom on this distinction, which is awarded to a faculty member who has exhibited superior continuous contributions in the areas of teaching, research, and service.
