Marty Carlino ’17 has co-founded The Record North Shore, a digital newsroom that covers Chicago's North Side suburbs (Winnetka, Wilmette, Glencoe, Kenilworth, and part of Northfield). The Record North Shore is a nonprofit, independent media outlet that relies on public financial support to produce its nonpartisan journalism.

While attending Dominican, Marty served as executive editor of the campus newspaper (The Dominican Star). After graduating from Dominican, Marty was editor of The Northbrook Tower where he “fell in love with hyper-local journalism.”

After The Northbrook Tower folded under duress of the COVID-19 pandemic, Marty and his co-founders wasted no time planning the new media group. They launched a Kickstarter campaign and created a video with members of the community at the forefront.

In addition to writing byline stories and editing content for The Record North Shore, Marty co-hosts a podcast. The topics, naturally, are laser-focused on what matters to their listeners.
