Two Dominican alumnae/i have been selected to participate in Disability Lead's 2022 Fellows Institute. Delilah Orizaba ’16, MSW ’19 and David Gayes ’14 are among the 16 accomplished leaders who represent a cross-section of professionals from Illinois' nonprofit, corporate, education and religious sectors.

Disability Lead is a network of nearly 200 people with disabilities who aim to create an equitable and inclusive society. Throughout the course of the year, Delilah and David will participate in an immersive learning experience that prepares them to collaborate and to lead with their disability identity, supported by the power of a large, effective network. Past Fellows have called the program “transformative,” “of the highest value,” and “like a master class in pride.”

Delilah, a senior services case manager at Center on Halsted, is an LGBTQ+, disability, and housing advocate. David, a disability rights activist, is currently obtaining a master's of intercultural studies at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.
