Samantha Sundquist MLIS ’19 founds library amid pandemic

Samantha Sundquist MLIS ’19 was recently profiled in the LoganSquarist as she founded Sunny's Shared Spines, a free lending library for the Humboldt Park and Logan Square communities. The library is run out of her Logan Square home amid the COVID-19 global pandemic.



Samantha opened “Sunny’s Shared Spines” when the local university where she works as a librarian integrated with another school and ultimately lost its library. Since then, she has saved nearly 600 books from possibly getting thrown away. Her goal is to promote literacy, community engagement and safe reading practices during quarantine.
