The Genesee District Library (GDL) has named Katie Badgley MLIS ’95 as the new Branch Librarian at the Linden Library. Her 25-year career in libraries includes 12 years at GDL, six as the Children’s Librarian.

Katie also served as Head of Children’s Services at the Orion Township Public Library, and as a School Media Specialist for Mill Valley Schools in California. She is also a storyteller for the Michigan Humanities Council grant-funded Prime Time program.

“The challenges we are facing in 2020 are making the library more important than ever,” Katie says. “We provide free digital access to ebooks, audiobooks, music, magazines, videos, and a huge variety of educational materials and databases that people can access right from their homes, 24/7, during a quarantine.”

Katie holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Michigan-Flint, and a Master of Library Information Science from Dominican University.
