Expression of Study: Sofia Olvera-Sandoval, Class of 2023

“I love to learn. It’s always been exciting for me,” Sofia Olvera-Sandoval, Class of 2023, says. “My first love is reading and writing poetry.”
An Honor’s Program student named to the Dean’s List each semester, Olvera-Sandoval was named as the recipient of the 2022 St. Catherine Medal Award - a distinction awarded by the Kappa Gamma Pi National Catholic Honors Society. Her academic accomplishments, coupled with her commitment to service, are stellar.
A double major in English with a concentration in writing and Spanish studies, and a minor in translation and interpretation studies, Olvera-Sandoval is also the Gill-Davlin Award recipient and co-founder of Pueblo Leído, an organization to support and build community for Latinx students in the English department. In addition to her campus job in the Performing Arts Center, she is a DU writing fellow and she volunteers with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She plans to pursue a career in publishing upon graduation.
