Susan Swords Steffen MALS ’76 leaves legacy at Elmhurst College

After 22 years in the position, Susan Swords Steffen MALS ’76 is retiring as the director of the A.C. Buehler Library at Elmhurst College. She began her career with positions at Saint Xavier University and Northwestern University before arriving at Elmhurst in 1997. 



Apart from working in the library, Susan also served as a professor in a gamut of classes such as Children’s Literature, First Year Seminar, and City As Text: Rome, Prague, Berlin, and Amsterdam. In 2014, she was awarded the Illinois Library Association’s Academic Librarian of the Year.
