A librarian since 1972, John Sayers MALS ’74 currently serves as the director of the Cambridge Public Library. He has held the position since August 2018, not long after he retired from the Kewanee Public Library.

John began working in the music library at VanderCook College of Music, Chicago, while earning a bachelor’s degree in music. He went on to get his master’s in library science from Rosary College (now Dominican University). The University of Chicago was the only other college in the area to offer a degree in library science.

Since 1980, John has been working in public libraries. He was employed at libraries in Forest Park and Oak Park in the Chicago area. He came to Kewanee in 1999 and retired from the Kewanee Public Library in January 2017.
