Liza Manjarrez, the associate director of Campus Ministry at St. Edward’s University in Austin, joined Dominican University as we continued our Traditioning El Futuro Series, an extension of our El Futuro is Here Conference to share her experience with her praxis of Abuelita theology.

Abuelita theology is birthed from the reality that in Latine religious culture, matriarchal figures serve as the core of preserving and passing on religious traditions, beliefs, practices, and spirituality within the family. The theologies we have inherited from our abuelas have given us a firm foundation of what it means to live out our faith and demonstrate love in the world.
