Why I Work in DU Admission

The reason I choose to work at Dominican is because of the camaraderie and common goals of everyone on campus. The faculty and staff at Dominican inspires students to achieve those goals. I particularly like the great student to faculty ratio, as I feel this is very important in getting every student involved in the classroom with the hope of reaching their full potential. The “small community feel” that Dominican University possesses makes it easy for me to speak and represent this exceptional school.

Hobbies/Interests

Traveling, coaching and watching soccer, and also researching odd facts and useless information. On a day off I enjoy spending time with my wife and our two boys, Camden and Lucas.

Why I work in DU Admissions

I have chosen to work at Dominican University (DU) because of what sets us apart, specifically DU's ability to intertwine a global vision with a local impact. The educational experiences provided transcend geographical boundaries, yet the institution remains deeply rooted in its commitment to addressing the unique needs of the local community. This duality creates a dynamic and enriching environment for both staff and students. As a woman from the Austin Community area, I observe how DU is committed to playing a pivotal role in reaching out to underrepresented families and ensuring they have access to quality education and resources. Recognizing that the work we do involves creating programs that bridge gaps, foster inclusivity, and empower individuals from diverse backgrounds to pursue higher education, I believe working closely with young adults is not just a job; it's a calling.

I believe in the potential of every young mind, and I am dedicated to guiding and mentoring them on their journey to success.

Why I work in DU Admission

I was a transfer student when I attended Dominican University. I remember feeling lost but also felt motivated to complete my degree. I was a 1st generation college student who needed guidance. With every step I took at Dominican University, I knew that I made the right decision coming here. The staff and faculty were so helpful throughout the process. I want to be that person for incoming students. I understand firsthand how overwhelming and exciting the admission process is and I want to assist students with a smooth transition. I want students to have a pleasant and, most importantly, informed experience when they inquire about Dominican University.

Why I work in DU Admission

As a first-generation graduate, the resources provided to students during my undergraduate program at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside allowed me to thrive in my education. Dominican’s dedication to diversity and inclusion, and the resources provided to set students up for success were very impressive across the board. When I stepped on campus and was greeted with a welcoming smile by every person I met, I knew working at Dominican was the right choice for me.

Working in DU Admission allows me to continue my passion of assisting international students from across the globe with gaining access to an incredible American education and it allows me to expand awareness of the importance of international education. International students—you are welcomed here and Dominican University will support you as you navigate the U.S. education system and culture.
