Shari Noland is Chief Operating Officer for UMI (Urban Ministries, Inc.), the largest independently owned African American Christian publishing company. Shari has held several critical leadership roles at UMI, including Chief Technology Officer, Chief Content Officer, and Urban Faith magazine and website editor. Her career spans more than 20 years at well-known educational nonprofits, media companies, websites, and consumer magazines. She’s held influential positions as VP of Brand Management for Aunt Martha’s Health & Wellness, Executive Editor of The Chicago Defender, Digital Product Manager for the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), Strategic Marketing Consultant for The Chicago Reporter, Director of Communications for the Oak Park Education Foundation (OPEF), and lead producer for GoodHousekeeping.com and MarieClaire.com. Shari earned a Bachelor’s in Journalism and Advertising from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master’s in Reporting and Writing from Northwestern University.
