Natalia Prato, Class of 2023, wrote an editorial urging Illinois senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth to push for increasing international relief funding in the 2022 fiscal year. Prato is a member of Catholic Relief Services. an international humanitarian aid organization. She is a psychology and Spanish major and serves as an intern in University Ministry's faith and justice program.

"As a daughter of immigrants, whose extended family has been impacted by lack of sufficient resources, infrastructure and security, it has become easier to recognize the importance of using one's power and privilege intentionally and responsibly. Working at Dominican University's Ministry has offered me opportunities to meet and hear from people from all walks of life, including some folks who have been displaced by the very issues we hope to address with our senators," she wrote.

Prato insists that robust funding for international assistance will demonstrate dedication to justice, equity and care for creation, and reestablish the U.S. as an influential global leader.
