Dominican University's Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) is supporting Rachelle Zola's hunger strike to raise awareness and support for H.R. 40, a federal bill that would establish a commission to study amd develop proposals for reparations for African Americans. The university hosted the launch of the strike on May 16.

Amy Omi, university minister for liturgy and the arts and TRHT coordinator, said in a Wednesday Journal article that supporting Zola's hunger strike fits within the university's mission. You can read the article here

Dominican's Rebecca Crown Library has created an Activism and Protesting Lib Guide that provides information about H.R. 40, the history of the call for reparations, and nonviolent forms of protest within movements for racial justice.
