Make a Gift in Support of Scholarships

Dominican University’s Trustee Benefit Concert for Scholarships is a spring tradition, and after a two-year, pandemic-induced absence, returned as a live event in March 2022. For more than 40 years, local patrons of the arts, opera buffs and Broadway lovers have marked this concert as a “don’t miss” event on their calendars. The annual fundraiser is a showcase of world-class performing artists and the 2022 concert was no exception, with Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth gracing the stage of Lund Auditorium on March 5.

The concert drew over 500 people, raised over $430,000 for scholarships, and spotlighted success stories of past scholarship recipients. Chenoweth not only gave a stunning  performance but dazzled the audience with her knowledge of the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters and championed the importance of scholarships—pointing first to herself and then to every musician on stage as “scholarship kids.”

“We are grateful for everyone who joined us for a memorable and special evening,” said Sara Miller Acosta, vice president for university advancement. “Thank you for supporting our talented students with your generosity.”

It was then-president of Rosary College, Sister Candida Lund, who first established the benefit concert in 1981 to advance the profile of the college as a premier liberal arts institution. It was, and continues to be, a concert with purpose—not only to entertain, but also to raise scholarship funds for deserving students.
