Newest Members of Beta Gamma Sigma Inducted

This spring, Brennan celebrated the induction of the newest members of Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society that recognizes scholastic excellence in the world’s top business schools. Business Plan Challenge Winners Awarded $1000

In partnership with Entrepreneur Leaders in Philanthropy, a giving group of the OPRF Community Foundation, Brennan hosted a spring Business Plan Challenge for students. Innovative teams had the opportunity to pitch business plans to a panel of local business owners and investors.

Brennan Student Accepted into Prestigious Summer Program

Jairo Duarte was accepted into the American Economic Association summer program. Through intensive training with leading faculty, students in this competitive program develop technical skills useful to tackle the rigors of graduate studies while earning college credits. Congratulations, Jairo!

Steve Harrington Named Professor Emeritus

Steve Harrington is recognized as a Professor Emeritus as he finishes his phase-out retirement period. Thank you for your many years of service and contributions, Steve. You've made an impact on the lives of so many in the Brennan community!

Anne Drougas Receives Excellence in Teaching Award

Anne Drougas, Professor of Finance and Department Chair for Accounting, Finance, and Entrepreneurship, is the recipient of the 2019 Excellence in Teaching Award.

This year, Anne is celebrating twenty years as a Dominican University faculty member. Anne’s diverse interests can be seen in the courses she teaches, which today include both finance and quantitative methods, her research areas, and her work with co-authors from various disciplines across Brennan.

At the center of Anne’s work are her students. She is a devoted professor, academic advisor, and mentor who makes a deep and lasting impression on her students. Her commitment to superior teaching and mentoring is recognized by the Brennan students who selected her as this year’s award recipient. Congratulations, Anne!

 

Dan Condon Receives Distinguished Service Professor Award

Professor of Economics Dan Condon has been named the 2019-20 recipient of this Distinguished Service Professor Award. This award recognizes a professor whose teaching and service have made a substantial contribution toward advancing the University’s mission. Congratulations on this honor, Dan!

John Vail Named Willenborg Civic Learning Fellow

John Vail, Clinical Professor of Law and Ethics, has been selected as the Willenborg Civic Learning Fellow for the 2019-20 academic year. This academy, which is made possible by a donation from alumna and labor movement leader Eileen Willenborg, is aimed at deepening the University’s “curricular and co-curricular capacity to provide students with the knowledge and hands-on experience they need to engage in the creation of a more just and humane world.”

New Faculty Members to Join the Brennan School This Fall

We look forward to welcoming two new full-time faculty members this fall.

  • Souha Balti will join the Brennan School as an Assistant Professor of Accounting. Souha’s research emphasizes corporate governance and social responsibility. She is currently completing her Ph. D. at HEC in Montreal, Canada. 
  • Lisa Kralina will join us as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Finance. Lisa brings with her a wealth of experience in the financial and non-profit sectors. She is also working to finish her doctoral studies at Anderson University.
Brooke Reavey Featured in National Business Education Newsletter

Assistant Professor of Marketing Brooke Reavey was used as a resource for an article in KeyingIN, the newsletter of the National Business Education Association, about using real world business challenges as a teaching technique, rather than the more typical method of using case studies. According to the article, this teaching strategy increases student motivation and engagement and positions students for internships and job offers.

Anne Drougas is quoted in a U.S. News and World Report article titled, “The Frustration of Stubbornly Undervalued Stocks.” Read the article.
