The McCusker Memorial Lecture is presented annually each fall and celebrates the life and contributions of Sister Lauretta McCusker, O.P., the first dean of Dominican University's Graduate School of Library and Information Science, now the School of Information Studies.

Skye Patrick was appointed LA County Library Director in February 2016. She has held leadership roles at Broward County Library, Queens Public Library, and San Francisco Public Library. Under her leadership, LA County Library was named finalist for the IMLS National Medal in 2018 and 2019, and received three Library Journal awards in a 12-month period: 2018 Marketer of the Year, 2019 Librarian of the Year, and 2019 Library of the Year.
