The Dominican Buddies Program Mission
The Dominican Buddies program connects Dominican students with incoming international students to create supportive cross-cultural learning communities that enhance academic achievement and enrich the social and cultural experiences of all Dominican students.
Characteristics of a Dominican Buddy
If you are willing to share your time interacting with a Dominican peer, you are encouraged to become a Dominican Buddy. Below are a few characteristics of an ideal Dominican Buddy:
- Responsible and respectful attitude
- Generous with time and availability
- Good listening and intercultural communication skills
- Resourceful

Why is Dominican Buddies Important?
Through the Dominican Buddies program, traditional and international students will be joining a global community and gaining insight on different cultural perspectives and values.
Dominican Buddies Requirements
- Enrolled in the ID 092: International Integration and Success Course
- Attend a mandatory 30-minute Dominican Buddies welcome and orientation session.
- Meet with your buddy at least four times during the semester to help you learn more about the Dominican community.
- Participate with your buddy in all Dominican Buddies sponsored events and other academic and social events
**You can apply to Dominican Buddies in the fall and spring semesters. Fill out the Dominican Buddies Application form and submit it to Robbi Byrdsong-Wright.
You will receive an email invitation from the Office of Academic Success Services to attend a Dominican Buddies welcome and orientation session.
