The Dominican Star Summer STEM Institute is an ideal gateway experience as you get ready to begin your college career. This free month-long hybrid experience will prepare you for the rigor of your education at Dominican through mentoring, community building and hands-on lab experiences. Any STEM-interested student is encouraged to apply.

Part I: Exploring the science behind how your brain learns
Online (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.) July 26 & 28, August 2 & 3, 9 & 10, 16 & 17

During Zoom sessions, you'll:

  • Conduct experiments and participate in interactive discussions
  • Connect with your future classmates as well as upperclassmen mentors
  • Develop the most effective tools and study strategies for success in STEM in college
Part II: Getting into the lab
On Campus (9 a.m.-5 p.m.)
August 22-24

During the in-person sessions, you'll:

  • Conduct hands-on experiments alongside Dominican faculty in our labs, learn how to do academic research and present your findings
  • Collect specimens for lab study on field visits
  • Get to know Dominican's campus and all the opportunities you will have while you're a student here
