The Dominican Star Summer Science Institute
The Dominican Star Summer Science Institute is an ideal gateway experience as you get ready to begin your college career. Join us from August 9-22!
This is two-week, free residential program allows you to:
- Conduct hands-on experiments alongside Dominican faculty in our labs, learn how to do academic research and present your findings
- Collect specimens for lab study on field visits
- Discover the most effective study strategies for success in STEM in college
- Connect with your future classmates as well as upperclassmen mentors
- Visit scientific institutes and other locations around the Chicagoland area
- Get to know Dominican's campus and all the opportunities you will have while you're a student here
- Receive a $500 scholarship when you complete the program!

The details
Tuition, room and board are grant-funded, so there is no cost to the student participants. A $100 refundable deposit is required upon admittance to hold your seat; it will be returned once you arrive for the program. This program is available for all incoming freshman STEM interested students, including majors in biology, biology-chemistry, chemistry, computer science, engineering, environmental sciences, math, math and computer sciences, natural sciences and neuroscience. You will earn a $500 scholarship just for your participation!
