Welcome to Dominican University! To help you prepare for your future at Dominican, we have created a special session of the Student Orientation, Advising & Registration (SOAR) program to assist in your transition as a new student.

At your orientation, you will learn about the academic expectations of the university, register for your classes, discover opportunities for student involvement, find out about services and resources, and meet other Dominican students.

Please be advised that your attendance is required, space is limited and registrations may close before the deadline. Please make your arrangements to attend the entire program.

You must pay your Tuition Deposit before registering for the SOAR program. If you have not paid your deposit yet, you can do so here

The SOAR program runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting with check-in at the Shaffer Silveri Atrium in Parmer Hall. Depending on the number of courses being transferred to Dominican University, some students may be required to complete a Math Assessment, and/or Modern Foreign Language Assessment. The Office of Student Success and Engagement will communicate with students the schedule to complete your individually required assessments prior to your SOAR date. Assessments are offered in the morning prior to SOAR; students needing to complete an assessment should plan on arriving on campus as early as 8 a.m. Your specific schedule will be communicated to you as soon as possible.

Here are some of the day’s highlights:

  • Overview of the Core Curriculum and Academic Advising
  • Meet with an academic advisor/faculty member and register and/or review classes
  • Meet new and current students and build community
  • Learn about the many resources designed to support student success
