Academia Bilingüe || Bilingual Academy es un programa de enriquecimiento académico y lingüístico dirigido por la profesora Melizabeth Santos de Dominican University. La profesora Santos también tiene cartas credenciales del estado de Illinois como maestra bilingüe para grados K-12. Estudiantes bilingües de la escuela normal de Dominican University trabajan en colaboración con la profesora Melizabeth Santos para planificar y brindar esta divertida oportunidad de aprendizaje para estudiantes de habla hispana, aquellos de hogares de habla hispana y aquellos de hogares de habla inglesa matriculados en programas de lenguaje dual. Nuestro objetivo es que a través de estas interacciones aumentemos el valor social del Español, la inversión y el orgullo de los niños por su bilingüismo. Academia Bilingüe || Bilingual Academy is an academic and language enrichment program led by Professor Melizabeth Santos of Dominican University, a K-12 State of Illinois Certified Bilingual and ESL Educator. Dominican University, School of Education teacher candidates work collaboratively with Professor Melizabeth Santos to plan and provide this fun, learning opportunity for Spanish speaking students, those from Spanish-speaking homes, and those from English-speaking homes enrolled in dual language education. Our goal is that through these interactions, we are augmenting the social value of children’s investment and pride in their bilingualism. Our program is designed for:

Celebrando las comunidades indígenas - Celebrating Indigenous Communities

En el otoño, nuestro calendario marca el Día de la Raza y Día de acción de gracias. El sábado, 19 de noviembre del 2022, de 9 am a 2 pm, ofreceremos un programa de aprendizaje divertido celebrando las comunidades indígenas de las américas. En español, con apoyo bilingüe, su estudiante aprenderá sobre comunidades indígenas a través de actividades de matemáticas, lectura, ciencias y arte. ¡Invitamos estudiantes de 1er hasta 5o grado con antecedentes de habla hispana a través de la escuela o el hogar a registrarse para ésta sesión gratuita! Se llevará a cabo en Dominican University, 7900 W Division Street, River Forest, IL 60305. Regístrese aquí antes del 2 de noviembre, 5pm. In the fall, our calendars mark Indigenous Day and Thanksgiving. On Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 9am-2pm we offer learning about Indigenous Communities of the Americas. Students will learn about Indigenous Communities of the Americas through math, reading, science, and art activities in Spanish with bilingual support. We invite students from 1st to 5th grade with a Spanish-speaking background from at school or at home to apply for this session! This free event will take place at Dominican University, 7900 W Division Street, River Forest, IL 60305. Apply here before November 2, 2022, 5pm. During the science portion of the day, students hypothesized about which materials would best filter dirty water: a sponge, a coffee filter, rocks, or cotton balls. Then students got to conduct a hands on experiment and discuss their findings with their table!
