Admission to Commencement is by ticket only for all guests (including babies/children). Graduates do not need a ticket. Only graduates participating in the Commencement Ceremony receive tickets for guests. Seating is limited and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Graduates participating in the 10:30 a.m. Undergraduate Ceremony will receive four tickets.
  • Graduates participating in the 3:00 p.m. Graduate Ceremony will receive eight tickets.

The number of tickets available for each ceremony is based on the number of students attending each commencement ceremony. The capacity for the UIC Dorin Forum is 2800. At the current time, we do not expect additional tickets to be available.

We encourage graduates who are not using all of their allotted tickets to give to others in need. Please note that selling, buying and/or reproducing Commencement tickets is strictly forbidden. These acts are punishable by law and can affect your graduation status.

*Please note: If additional tickets become available, we will conduct a lottery on Monday,  April 27.
All students interested in extra tickets must complete either the Undergraduate Ceremony Ticket Lottery Entry Form or the Graduate Ceremony Ticket Lottery Entry Form by 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 124 to be eligible for additional tickets.  Your student account must be in good standing.

Families unable to attend may view via the Commencement Webcast. The webcast will be posted the week of Commencement.

Students unable to pick up their tickets at the Countdown to Commencement Event may pick up their tickets in the Student Accounts Office, Lewis Hall 119 starting on Thursday, April 16. Student Account office hours are as follows:

  • Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Students must present their university ID or state ID and will need to sign for their tickets. Students will not be allowed to pick up their tickets if they have an outstanding balance or if their account is not in good standing. It is highly recommended that students check their account or stop in the Student Accounts Office, Lewis Hall 119, to confirm account status. Ticket distribution will not be available the day of graduation. Students are responsible for making sure all guests have their tickets before they arrive for the ceremony.

Note: Student Accounts stops taking personal checks on Friday, April 24, two weeks prior to the date of graduation. During this time you are welcome to pay in the office by cashier's check, money order or cash. You may also pay online through CASHNet with MasterCard, Discover, Visa or American Express.


Doors open to guests one hour prior to the ceremony. Please note that if guests arrive early, they will not be allowed to enter the building until this time. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis (general admission). All children, including babies will need a ticket to the ceremony.

Doors to the seating area will close 10 minutes prior to the start of the ceremonies: 10:20 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. Guests who arrive after this time must wait to be seated until graduates and faculty have processed and taken their seats.

The UIC Dorin Forum is accessible and has plenty of floor seating. Guests requiring special assistance or accessible seating should plan to arrive early. To drop off passengers needing special assistance or who cannot walk long distances, there will be a pull-over site on Roosevelt Road, heading east outside the venue. Please note that the venue is not able to provide wheelchairs.

  • Tripods for recording equipment
