All faculty and staff are invited to attend the Sunday, May 5, 2019 Commencement Ceremonies at the UIC Dorin Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt Road, Chicago, Illinois (The location is not the UIC Pavilon)

Undergraduate Ceremony, 10:30 a.m.
Graduate Ceremony, 3:00 p.m.

To assist in the planning and coordination of the commencement ceremonies, all faculty and staff are asked to complete a simple online registration form by Monday, April 15.

Faculty members, who need to rent regalia, please complete the information in the online registration form by Friday, April 5. Orders placed after the deadline will be charged a $15 late fee and your correct school colors may not be available. Regalia must be returned by Monday, May 13. All teaching faculty and staff are welcome and encouraged to join the procession for either or both ceremonies, along with additional staff colleagues who have traditionally marched. Faculty and staff may also volunteer to assist at the ceremonies.

Full-time faculty members who teach undergraduate students are expected to participate, in academic regalia, in the morning ceremony. Please plan to arrive at the UIC Forum no later than 10:00 a.m.

If you teach graduate students, you are expected to participate, with equal splendor, in the afternoon ceremony. Please plan to arrive at the UIC Forum no later than 2:30 p.m.

You are more than welcome at both ceremonies; in fact, you are encouraged to participate in both, if you can.

Maps and directions are posted at the Commencement web site; please review them, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area, recognizing that travel times can be very unpredictable.

An important reason to complete the online registration form is to make sure that you receive a complimentary parking voucher. Without the voucher, parking will cost $10.00. Many faculty and staff have found the shuttle service from campus to the UIC Forum and back to be extremely convenient and comfortable. Please indicate your interest in the shuttle on the online registration form.

We will provide coffee service starting at 9:00 a.m. For faculty and staff staying for the 3:00 p.m. Ceremony, a light lunch will be served between the two Commencement ceremonies. Please complete the online registration form so we have an accurate count for lunch.

UIC Dorin Forum Bag and Metal Detector Policies

For safety reasons, bags, purses, backpacks and other large bags may not be permitted in the UIC Dorin Forum.  Bags must fit into a container 12″ x 6″ x 12″ in order to be permitted into the venue.  All graduates, guests, faculty and staff will also be asked to pass through a metal detector. Persons passing through the metal detectors will be asked to remove their phones, keys, coins, wallets, etc. A list of prohibited items includes:

  • Camera bags
  • Drawstring bags
  • Briefcases
  • Computer bags
  • Coolers, including thermos
  • Fanny packs
  • Luggage or any kind
  • Diaper bags
  • Bottles/Cans
  • Outside Food/Beverage
  • Noisemakers
  • Laser pointers
  • Mace
  • Weapons/Knives
