Master of Arts in Educational Administration with Entitlement to Type 75 MAEA

Requirements

Complete 36 semester hours of prescribed graduate credit while maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.0 out of 4.0.

Complete 100 field experience hours and 25 clock hours of administrative shadowing required by the policies and procedures of the Administrative Leadership Program in the School of Education and approved by the Program Director.

Attain a passing grade earned on the State of Illinois General Administrative Test after completing all courses and field experience required in the program.

Document two or more full years of successful full-time teaching and/or student personnel work in an elementary or secondary school.

Postgraduate Entitlement to Type 75 Administrative Certification

This program is specifically designed for individuals with a minimum of two years of successful full time teaching experience or student personnel work and who already hold a graduate degree in education and wish to become school administrators of public, Catholic and other nonpublic elementary schools.

Requirements

Must already hold a graduate degree in education.

Complete a core curriculum of 25 semester hours plus an elective to total at least 27 hours, while maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.0 out of 4.0.

Complete 100 field experience hours and 25 clock hours of administrative shadowing required by the policies and procedures of the Administrative Leadership Program in the School of Education and approved by the Program Director.

Attain a passing grade earned on the State of Illinois General Administrative Test after completing all courses and field experience required in the program.

Document two or more full years of successful full-time teaching and/or student personnel work in an elementary or secondary school.

Field Experiences for both Master of Arts in Educational Administration & Postgraduate Entitlement Certification (Type 75 Certification—MAEA)

  • Candidates are required to complete 100 hours in field experiences and 25 clock hours of administrative shadowing.
  • Fifteen field experience hours are assigned to each course in the program. It is recommended that these hours reflect the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC) and Illinois Professional School Leader (IPSL) Standards.
  • A professional portfolio of these hours and other experiences and artifacts related to the ELCC and IPSL Standards. Candidates may obtain a copy of the School of Education Portfolio Implementation Process that contains policies and procedures, sample template for cover pages, and rubrics for assessment of the portfolio.
