This award-winning documentary shares the compelling story of five students and is a call for reform, addressing the issues, challenges and opportunities facing America’s schools. Immediately following the movie, Dr. Charles M. Payne, professor at the University of Chicago, who currently serves on the advisory board for the Teacher College Press’ series on social justice and is among the founders of the Education for Liberation Network that encourages young people to think critically about social issues, will provide commentary on the movie.
Admission is free.
Scholarship Opportunity for Minority Candidates
Minority candidates who show a strong commitment to scholarship, leadership and service are invited to apply for a scholarship through Dominican University's School of Education. Potential candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the time of application. In addition they will provide a personal statement that provides evidence of their potential to be leaders in school settings and committed to service in their work with children. This scholarship is available to new applicants to Dominican University's School of Education.
