Powerful Promise Campaign: Full Speed Ahead
A Commitment to Delivering a Transformative Education for Future Generations

With the leadership of President Donna Carroll and the Board of Trustees – and inspired by the more than $53 million raised to date – the university has publicly launched its most ambitious campaign in university history: the $65 million Powerful Promise Campaign. In October, benefactors, alumnae/i and friends of the university, as well as the faculty, staff and students, celebrated the public launch of the campaign at two separate events.

On October 6, 2016, close to 250 guests gathered in the Shaffer Silveri Atrium of Parmer Hall for the kickoff event which included a reception, an inspiring program, tours of the new health science facilities in Parmer Hall for nursing and physician assistant studies, and enjoyed conversation over a buffet supper.

“We gather tonight to celebrate the powerful promise of a Dominican education, and to commit publicly to a campaign that deepens the university’s capacity to advance that promise – for our students, within our academic community, among our alumnae/i, and in the external marketplace,” President Donna Carroll announced. “Tonight you are all a part of Dominican’s campaign vision and your gifts promise a challenging and supportive community for future generations of Dominican students.”

The following week on October 13, the university community gathered in the Social Hall to celebrate the launch of the Powerful Promise Campaign. Nearly 300 attended the festive reception and while enjoying their own casual reception and decorating cookies, had the opportunity to learn about the campaign from the members of the Faculty/Staff Campaign Committee. Stations with information about each of the campaign priorities helped demonstrate how the campaign will impact the campus. This included a video that took viewers through the planned Student Commons. Participants were invited to share their own promises of how they hope to make a difference because of their Dominican experience.

"There is great energy and excitement for this campaign and experience shows we have great reason to be confident of success,” says Kevin Killips ’79, chair of the board of trustees and campaign co-chair. “The university is poised for excellence and this campaign is our commitment to providing a stellar, affordable education to generations of students to come.”
